Evelyn Juanita Currie was born on April 13, 1934, in Haywood County, Tennessee, USA. She was the daughter of Percy Lovelace and Zelma Currie. Her last name on her death certificate is listed as Lovelace, but in the 1950 Census, she was living with her grandmother, Georgianna, and Uncle James and her cousin Margaret under the name Evlyn Currie.
Evelyn was the older half-sister to the renowned singer Tina Turner. She shared a special bond with Tina Turner even though they had different fathers. Unfortunately, she passed away at a young age on January 31, 1954
