Chris Rock’s father was named Julius Rock. There isn’t a lot of public information available about Julius, but Chris has spoken about him in interviews and his inspiration can even be seen in his work. For example, the sitcom “Everybody Hates Chris” is loosely based on Rock’s own childhood experiences growing up in a working-class family. While the character Julius on the show is fictionalized, it’s likely inspired by Chris’ real-life father. Tragically, Julius passed away in 1988 after ulcer surgery.
